define yourself

how do you define yourself?

by the people you know?
by the things that have happened to you?
by the things you want to accomplish?
by the skill or talent you have?
by what everyone else thinks of you?

the answer might surprise you and change you – at times i have defined myself by all of the above, but how should we really do it?

blogpost update: 3-06-2015 Happy Anniversary

HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY 1 st ANNIVERSARY TO my precious son and his beautiful wife, Ben Sterrett and Kitty Chen Sterrett…i hope today is most wonderful and uplifting for both of you…i love you guys like crazy…may the God of heaven and earth bind you together with His undeniable perfection and unending love. love mom

I have started using my Gideon song/hymn book more often in my devotional time. I just think of a number, go to that page, and sing that and sometimes another song. It is funny how my birds pay attention to some songs and not others. I know, I KNOW they can sing much better but I think we all need to sing to our Creator. Today, I chose “A Mighty Fortress Is Our God” by Martin Luther. My favorite line is from verse 3: And tho this world, with dev-ils filled, Should threaten to un-do us, We will not fear, for God hath willed His truth to triumph thru us.

It doesn’t matter how bad we sing, the Holy Spirit translates it into God’s own desire and delight, for that it makes no not to sing.

short story: Slim Jim Woodkin

Once, a very long time ago, there was a very tall, thin man walking in the woods. He was not very nice to the woodland creatures so when he made a fire to keep himself warm that night, they sang a chant around the fire. The man has never woken up from his deep sleep but, he must have been dreaming very hard. As a result of the human being able to hear them, his ears grew many times there original size. Some woodland creature has made a very nice home in his ear. I came across Slim Jim Woodkin today, you tell me, does he look happy to you?

Book Review: Courageous by Randy Alcorn

Book Review: Courageous by Randy Alcorn

This book is about a group of men, mostly cops, who are struggling with family dynamics. A main premise of the book is that society is failing because fathers are not raising their children with integrity, if at all. Most of the men have children and wives. Most of the men are Christians. One father goes through a crisis and decides to make a real change in his faithfulness to God and his service to his family. The result is a wonderful resolution to be better Christian, a faithful and loving husband and a hands on father who takes responsibility for their commitments to each other. The other men in the group begin to make the same choice with their families. It reminds me of a similar movement that took place in the 1980’s, Promise Keepers, that was meant to get men interested and involved in their families again.

Blogpost 2-10-2015 charity

The Bible refers to love as charity; it also tells us God is love. 1 John 4:8 “He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.” 1 Corinthians chapter 13 is often quoted as a definition of how to love each other, but I am telling you it is also a definition of God’s divine love for us.

1 Cor. 13: 1Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.

3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.

4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,

5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;

6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;

7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

8 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.

9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.

10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.

11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

Read it again with God’s name and store it in your heart. He loves you so much and forgives you completely.

01-21-2015 Living thankful

You know that bubbly feeling, when you feel lighter than air, and everything is going your way…and you feel so thankful? We would be so much happier if we taught ourselves to think that right now, all the time. In the end it works out, we come through, we see that the Lord has been there the whole time and it was planned that we would make it through. So instead of worrying, whining and getting distracted start saying “thank you Father”  at the beginning and realize how much He gave for you and how much He wants you to succeed. Think how much more peaceful we would be as a family, a friend, a Church and Country. We all have to learn this, I am the first one in line for lessons on how.  1 Thessalonians 5:18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

o salvation

o salvation why do you elude me

what is this unfinished journey

that i am helpless to complete

this key that keeps me from the maker’s feet

when perchance your golden wings brush my face

this lifetime of pain erase

if but just a second i might see

what is left i must finish to end this journey

choice is on the line

pay attention when you consider who you will vote for, sadly many of SC candidates are pro-choice…i will never vote for a pro-choice candidate, if they don’t mind taking a child’s life how can i consider my life safe, especially considering i have mental disease and if they knew about that in utero i could have been a choice…we have to stop this nonsense all life if precious

shed the tears

it is time to shed the tears

time to repair the heart

a time to be happy

necessity is ruling

pain is taking it off of its pedestal

the culprit must be dethroned

the tears must be falling

remember the good and

let the bad be pushed down inside

tomorrow it will be numbness

in the searching soul

the tears must fall

Poem for Klondike Facebook game

Ode to Silent Shadow

Silent Shadow, my love so sweet,

I come to you upon swift running feet.

You stand so pretty in daylight’s meadow

My breath is gone, where did it go?

The truest gold vein leads to your heart

Silent Shadow, will you be my better part?

The rainbow sparkles in your eyes

Silent Shadow when I look at you my heart sighs.

I kneel before you now, at your feet

Silent Shadow please join me, make my life complete.

You are prettier than the bluest tulips I have seen.

Silent Shadow will you accept this ring of aquamarine?

I want to climb the tallest rare fir tree and sing it to the world.

The banner of our love, the rest of our lives unfurled.

We will make our life, right here in Klondike,

In Aery, in Wind’s Song, Ukhty, where ever you like.

I will build you a house with an attic or a wigwam,

Or a cabin is fine too; it will be home because of you.

We’ll put a white gazebo right over there, with rose bushes,

Tulips and jasmine, and a love bench just under that Cypress tree.

We’ll make a little stone path that leads to an orange mailbox,

Or maybe blue, and trim it with camomiles, that my love, is up to you.

We will have some chickens, turkeys, sheep, and pigs,

And a barn over there for the dogs and rigs.

When our little Inuits come, one by one, they’ll love it too,

Silent Shadow, I only want this life with you.

We will climb the sequoias, swim in the rivers, and mine the gold,

We will watch the eagles fly as the story we unfold.

So you see, Silent Shadow, I have thought this through.

There is no sunrise in Klondike without you.

Take this ring, my love, I am humbly asking,

Make my gold rush dreams come true.

…..yay, i won the contest!!!

Walk a way from filthiness.

Ephesians 5:3-5 teach us to turn away from sin, you can’t say “I am saved, so I can do what I want.” there is more to it, not knowing that makes you a part-time Christian, and you can’t be part-time with God, it is all or nothing. He loved you so much He died for you, that alone should tell you He is sick of it.
3 But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;
4 Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.
5 For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.

Christians need to say no more!

As Christians we need to monitor and cut out the sin encroaching our families. Yesterday Gracie, who is 6, said a boy in her class was making “nasty” gestures at her when the teacher turned away. Your sexually explicit tv and movies and music are not getting by your children. they hear it they see it and they repeat it. We have to push back and not buy or watch this stuff. please remember you are the Jesus, the light, that is here in the darkness and if you don’t shine you won’t help anyone else get to Christ. Even i used bad language yesterday. It is a constant battle.

noun: pornography

printed or visual material containing the explicit description or display of sexual organs or activity, intended to stimulate erotic rather than aesthetic or emotional feelings.

Sound like that novel you just read? that comedy routine you just listened too? that song that just played on the radio? Sex is the biggest seller in hollywood, and satan loves it, it will not change until we stop buying it

my heart is walking

my heart is walking

out the door again

what is this terrible

thing i keep doing wrong

when will my heart

at last be able to stay along

the cycle is repeating itself

they love me for a moment, then go
