Book Review: 100 Christian Quotes by Pastor Duke Taber

02/14/2014

I will just give you some of my favorite quotes from all ten of these strong Christians. I recommend reading this book, there are so many great quotes – I wish I could share them all but I believe it would be more appropriate for you to pick up a copy for yourself.

100 Christan Quotes cover

Oswald Chambers – “If I obey Jesus Christ in the seemingly random circumstances of life, they become pinholes through which I see the face of God.”

Oswald Chambers 1

C. S. Lewis – “I wonder if people who asked for God to intervene in our world, really know what they are asking. Will they want to be there when God really does intervene?” (Clive Staples)

Dietrich Bonhoeffer – “Destruction of the embryo in the mother’s womb is a violation of the right to live which God has bestowed upon this nascent life. To raise the question whether we are here concerned already with a human being or not is merely to confuse the issue. The simple fact is God certainly intended to create a human being and that this nascent being has been deliberately deprived of his life. And that is nothing but murder.”

General William Booth – “I consider that the chief dangers which confront the coming century will be religion without the Holy Ghost; Christianity without Christ; forgiveness without repentance; salvation without regeneration; politics without God; and Heaven without Hell.”

Gen William Booth1

Sister Aimee Semple McPherson – “We are all making a crown for Jesus out of these daily lives of ours, either a crown of golden, divine love, studded with gems of sacrifice and adoration, or a thorny crown, filled with the cruel briars of unbelief, or selfishness, and sin.”

Sister Aimee1

E. M. (Edward McKendree) Bounds – “Every mighty move of the Spirit of God has had its source in the prayer chamber.”

EM Bounds1

Kathryn Kuhlman – “It isn’t a matter of being worthy, for no man is worthy! It isn’t our perfection or our penitence, or a matter of our labors to reach the place of perfection or worthiness. It is God’s grace alone!”

Kathryn Kuhlman1

Charles Spurgeon – “How do you defend the Bible?” “Very easy” he responded. “The same way I defend a lion. I simple let it out of its cage.”

Charles Spurgeon1

A.. B. Simpson – “I would rather play with forked lightning, or take in my hand living wires with their fiery current, than speak a reckless word against any servant of Christ, or idly repeat the slanderous darts which thousands of Christian are hurling on others.”

A B Simpson1

Charles Finney – “Nothing tends more to cement the hearts of Christians than praying together. Never do they love one another so well as when they witness the outpouring of each other’s hearts in prayer.”

Charles Finney 11
